A virtual intranet* is the basis for many E-business applications. Amongst other things, business processes such as marketing, sales, knowledge management and project management are cost-savingly shifted to digital media.

The aim:

To save time, to optimise processes, to economise more efficiently, to develop sales channels and to keep clients.

*The intranet/extranet is available to all organisation members (employees, clients, business partners) on a worldwide basis and connects them. Concerning the open internet, it protects users with smooth transitions (firewalls/gateways). The open standards of the internet (e.g. HTML, JavaScript, Java, VRML) are internally available and are connected to internally existing applications. The capability of multimedia enables the use of all common media forms (e.g. data, graphic, language, audio, video).
